PROJECT READ NEEDS YOU
Lewis and Clark Community College Adult Education Project READ program matches volunteer tutors with individuals who need help with their reading skills. Project READ tutors agree to tutor two hours a week, either one on one with a student or can assist in a GED class that is being held in the Alton area. Volunteers receive twelve hours of training which consists of: 3 hours of orientation, 3 hours of observation in a GED class and 6 hours of training with a Reading Specialist. Volunteers also have access to a Project READ Community Service Coordinator who can assist with any problems or concerns. The Alton area Project READ Community Service Coordinator can assist students of all ages who would like to improve their reading skills. She can match you with one of the Project READ dedicated tutors or assist you in enrolling in one of Adult Education's free GED classes. If you are interested in becoming a volunteer tutor or receiving the services of one of the tutors call Ann Wilkins at 468-4153.
