A partnership between LCCC, Weed & Seed, and Alton Day Care and Learning Center has made possible a FREE Family Learning Center in the Alton Weed & Seed Neighborhood at Central and 5th St. offering family educational opportunities, GED classes, internet access for job-search, resume writing, research, online college classes, etc. A collaborative partnership with one generous supporter has resulted in that partner fully funding interior renovations to the space including: signage, minor construction, new lighting, carpet and paint as well as labor and installation of all materials. Our thanks to everyone who made this dream possible! LCCC is also partnering with Alton Housing Authority at the Oakwood Community Center to provide similar services. We are excited about the shared programming! What a wonderful opportunity for citizens – young and old. If you ever wanted to learn to email your children and grandchildren, now’s your chance. Resume writing and on-line job searching are also skills to be learned. For more information call Nancy Hess at 468-4110.
